Homemade Chocolate Truffles

Christmas Truffles

My uncle and I used to make chocolate truffles almost every year at Christmastime. It originally started because he needed a dessert to take to his office Christmas party. However, me, his middle school aged sous chef, had no office party to donate my truffles to. Instead, I'd gift my truffles to friends and family first and whatever was left over would go to homeless people. I would bundle up and walk my truffles around the greater DC area to donate my truffles to those in need of a little sweetness during the cold holiday season.

Trash Picking

Orphanages / Retirement Homes

After visiting an orphanage in Indonesia for a school trip, my friends and I agreed that more needs to be done to help those less fortunate than us. We then created an after-school program that brought students from our school to local orphanages to play, cook, and study.

My friends and I later agreed that orphans are not the only less fortunate demographic. We extended the program to travel students to local retirement homes to sing songs for the elderly and perform dances for them. The program is still running today to the best of my knowledge.

Crowd Cheering

Season of Service - Cleft Care

I spearheaded a fundraiser in which all proceeds went toward surgeries for underprivileged children born with cleft palates. I created marketing tools that persuaded hundreds of people to participate in a 5K race. I was the head event planner for this race that ended up raising $28,000.

Soup Kitchen

Kitchens

I started working at a soup kitchen at the age of 13 as a personal community service project. Helping feed the homeless inspired me so much so that I have continued visiting soup kitchens ever since. I have volunteered at homeless shelters in America, Indonesia, Italy, and Israel.

Health Without Borders

I was Vice President of the Health Without Borders Club at American University. This club's goal was to spread knowledge of global health crises and create solutions to help solve them. Additionally, this club promoted events and health practices to encourage college students to remain as healthy as possible.

Sustainable Energy

Revolve Fellowship

This is a fellowship at American University that puts solar panels on the roofs of nonprofits in the DMV area. I worked alongside the president of the fellowship to reach out to nonprofit owners and persuade them to allow Revolve to install solar panels completely free of charge.

She's The First

The mission of this organization is to fund African girls' trips to school. For most of these girls, they are the first in their family to attend school, hence the name. Many women in Africa are denied education due to their menstruation, familial duties, and societal expectations. This nonprofit organization created campaigns and collected donations for these girls.
